How to Jailbreak a Ps3

Hello internet,

First off I want to say that I'm not responsible for any bricks (PS3 may not turn on) that may happen but are very unlikely.

What you need:

-A USB flash drive

-A PS3 with version 3.60 or lower

-Know how to press a couple buttons

-PS3 controller cord

Okay, now to make sure you can still jailbreak your PS3, start up your PS3 and go to "settings" then "system Settings" and go to the second to last selection which is "System Information" and your "System Software Version" must be 3.55 or lower to continue (If your version is 3.60 I will make another "wonderHowTo" later). If it is higher than that, you don't need to read any further.

Now once you found out what your version is all you really have to is go to PS3-Hacks .com and look for "custom firmware" in the downloads section, look "ps3 custom firmware" but without the " ", or if you have your System Software version at 3.55 go to http://www.digitalhacking.net/forum/showthread.php?t=76&p=104#post104 to directly download a SAFE custom firmware.  The next thing you do is load your flash drive to your computer and make some new folders. the first one you make name it "PS3" now go inside that folder and make another one named "UPDATE" and all capitals. then put the .PUP in the "UPDATE" folder. and make sure the .PUP is named PS3UPDAT.PUP and yes, there is no "E" even though there should be.

The next thing is, when you have all the folders and the custom firmware on your flash driveis you plug it in your PS3 and have your PS3 turned off and then hold down the power button let it turn on and don't let go until it is turns off. Then, hold down the power button again but let go when you hear two beeps back to back. Then it will ask for you to plug in your controller. After you plug in your controller, go to System Update and press "Start" and "Select" and it will check for the firmware. Then accept and do everything like a normal update. When it turns back on... POOF! Your jailbroken!
